Bayer has signed a development and distribution agreement with French pheromone specialist M2i Group, granting Bayer exclusive rights to distribute pheromone gels in the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and the United States. This expanded agreement builds on their successful collaboration and previous product launches across Europe and Africa.
Through an agreement signed in 2023, Bayer became the exclusive distributor of select M2i Group products in Europe and parts of Africa, targeting lepidopteran pests and certain sucking insects in crops such as stone fruits, pome fruits, tomatoes, and grapes. Now, the two companies are expanding their collaboration to reach farmers beyond Europe and Africa, reinforcing their strategic partnership to deliver pheromone-based biological crop protection solutions on a global scale.
“Effective solutions with low or no residue are a key component of Bayer’s biological portfolio,” said Ralf Glaubitz, Head of the Crop Protection Product Team for Fungicides, Biologics, and Fruits & Vegetables at Bayer’s Crop Science division.
“Through strategic partnerships like this, we can expand the crop protection toolbox and offer farmers a broader range of sustainable solutions for their operations. We’re excited to deepen our collaboration with M2i Group and further strengthen Bayer’s biological offerings.”
Strategic partnerships in the biologicals space are vital to Bayer’s open innovation strategy, which focuses on combining the company’s leading R&D capabilities with the expertise and creativity of external innovators.
“In our Press technology, pheromones are formulated into a thick, long-lasting gel that is dispensed from a pressurized device, allowing for easy and direct application to the plant,” said Philippe Guerret, CEO, M2i Group. “In addition to its effective and eco-friendly formulation, the system offers several advantages: the bottle is reusable, and direct application eliminates the need for plastic applicators or hangers. This unique innovation helps save time, minimize plastic use, and reduce waste. We are excited to see it being distributed on a global scale.”
Since the initial agreement in 2023, products from the VYNYTY Press series have been launched across Europe and select African countries over the past three years, providing farmers with sustainable crop protection solutions.
M2i Group is the leader in pheromone production in Europe and has expertise in developing, formulating, and manufacturing complex molecules.
