Singapore-based BW Group has announced that its renewables arm, BW Renewables, has entered into a binding agreement to sell BW Water to Italian listed industrial group Industrie De Nora, marking a major ownership transition for the fast-growing water solutions business.

The deal, announced on 26 May 2026 in Singapore, is expected to close soon.

Founded in 2019, BW Water has rapidly expanded from a start-up into a global provider of full-service water and wastewater solutions, operating across nine countries in Asia, Europe and the Americas.

“BW Water has attracted strong market interest with its accelerated growth driven by clear strategic focus and disciplined execution. This transaction is a pivotal step in BW Water’s next phase of growth – positioning the business and its people for sustainable long-term success.

"We are confident that De Nora will be an excellent long-term owner given its technology leadership and strong track record in delivering projects and products in water, waste water and electrochemical applications for customers across industries ranging from chlor-alkali, municipal, oil & gas, power, to green hydrogen,” said Erik Strømsø, Managing Director of BW Renewables and CEO of BW ESS.

“This transaction creates a strong global platform to unlock future growth opportunities across new industrial segments and municipal markets. By combining BW Water’s proprietary water solutions, desalination capabilities and engineering expertise with De Nora’s innovative technologies, the business is well positioned to deliver greater value to our customers”, said Matthew White.

Under the agreement, De Nora will acquire BW Water in its entirety, including operations spanning an engineering hub in the Philippines and manufacturing centres in Germany and Malaysia, ensuring continuity for staff, customers and project partners.

Despite the sale, BW Group will maintain exposure to the water sector through BW Elara, a joint venture with BW Offshore focused on floating desalination solutions.

The transaction underscores BW Group’s continued portfolio reshaping across energy, maritime, and infrastructure, while positioning BW Water for its next phase under new industrial ownership.
