Celanese and ITRI expand collaboration in 5G mmWave applications

ITRI will develop more AiP modules using the Celanese GreenTape 9KC system to further demonstrate the feasibility and reliability of LTCC technology for 5mmWave applications

Celanese Corporation announced an extended strategic partnership with its Micromax Electronic Inks and Pastes and Taiwan's Industrial Technological Research Institute (ITRI), a leading R&D institution that has been transforming Taiwan's labor-intensive sectors into innovation-driven since 1973.

ITRI will develop more AiP modules using the Celanese GreenTape 9KC system to further demonstrate the feasibility and reliability of LTCC technology for 5mmWave applications, as well as to give more practical reference designs that are in line with volume production cost structure.

The Celanese GreenTape 9KC LTCC system provides an ultra-low dissipation factor (Df≤ 0.0009) over a wide frequency range and enables economic mass production of high-reliability modules with heterogeneous IC packaging, antennae and signal routing.

In 2022, Micromax Electronic Inks and Pastes won the 2022 R&D 100 Award in collaboration with ITRI for developing mmWave 5G wireless devices by using GreenTape 9KC LTCC and Ag metallization. The R&D 100 Award, which was founded in 1963 and sponsored by R&D World Magazine, is widely recognized as the "Oscars of Invention", as they identify and celebrate the top technology products and services of the year.

Micromax Electronic Inks and Paste has been collaborating and developing electronic inks for the printed electronics industry for more than 60 years.
