The Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) under the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India in collaboration with Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) organised a two-day Training Programme on Chemicals and Petrochemical Industry Safety on 25 and 26 June 2025 at the IIChE Headquarters, Kolkata.
Being Held at Dr. H.L. Roy Auditorium of IIChE at the Jadavpur University campus, the training programme was inaugurated in the presence of K. K. Mohapatra, Director, CIPET CSTS Balasore; Debarshi Duttagupta, Regional Chairman, Indian Chemical Council, Eastern Region, Kolkata; Suresh Babu Vootla, Dy. General Manager-HSE, Marketing HSE Department, HPCL Mumbai and Mrinal Kanti Biswas, Regional Director, Central Pollution Control Board, Kolkata, who was also the Chief Guest at the inaugural programme. Dr. Avijit Ghosh, Director, IIChE-Training Institute represented IIChE while coordinating the entire programme as well.
The two-day programme included extensive talks and presentations by renowned experts and authorities on different aspects of Safety Management; Emergency Preparedness; Hazardous Waste Management; Compliance on Safety, Environment and other Acts; Rules of Chemical and Petrochemical Industry; etc. As part of the programme, there was also a Mock Safety Drill. Over 200 professionals from the chemicals, petrochemicals and allied industries participated in the event.
