Dow India conducts camp for differently abled in Mumbai

Future camps for 2022-23 are slated to be held in rural areas of Chiplun in Maharashtra and Chennai in Tamil Nadu

In partnership with Shree Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), Dow India recently conducted the ‘Jaipur Foot’ camp in Mumbai.
 
The camp served and supported over 340 people with disabilities over the three-day course by providing end-to-end support in limb fitment, caliper fitment, providing walkers, elbow crutches, etc., rendering a new ray of hope to lead an active and mobile life. 
 
The camp was inaugurated jointly by Chandrakant Nayak, CEO Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd. (Dow India), and Champion of the Earth, Adv. Afroz Shah. 
 
Speaking on the occasion, Chandrakant Nayak said, “We are confident that our support and contributions will help shine a light in the life of differently abled. Our efforts will transform to resolve the challenges faced, making them accessible to opportunities they aim to achieve". 
 
He also unveiled a new dedicated ambulance for the upcoming initiatives greatly increasing the reach of the camp to remote places. Future camps for 2022-23 are slated to be held in rural areas of Chiplun in Maharashtra and Chennai in Tamil Nadu.
 
The camp was a massive success and witnessed participation from more than 50 Dow India employees selflessly putting in a total of 465 hours of volunteering service. Displaying immense compassion, Dow India employees not only distributed mobility aids but also personally assisted differently abled camp attendees in getting familiarized with the aids.
 
Speaking on the enthusiasm shown by Dow Employees, Afroz Shah said, “BMVSS and Dow India brings a lot of joy and hope into the lives of the underprivileged. These camps not only extend supportive aids but also provide an avenue for physically challenged individuals to be socially active and retain a sense of belonging to a community.”
 
Joined by D. R. Mehta, founder and chief patron of Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti, Nayak also formally inaugurated a camp at BMVSS’ Jaipur Center on 10th March, 2022 to support individuals with ‘Jaipur Foot’ and other mobility aids. More than 60,000 beneficiaries have been benefited through mobility aids since inception of partnership between Dow India and BMVSS till now.
