Durr unveils lighter, leaner EcoGun ACE pro with faster colour changes

The new model sheds 23% of its weight while preserving the strengths of its predecessor

German mechanical and plant engineering firm Dürr has rolled out a major overhaul of its low-pressure spray gun, introducing the EcoGun ACE pro—a redesigned, streamlined tool the company says is lighter, easier to handle, and more reliable than ever.

The new model sheds 23% of its weight while preserving the strengths of its predecessor. A standout upgrade is the quick-change system for the color channel, which “allows you to change color in just a few seconds, with no flushing and virtually no solvent.”

Designed for workflows that demand speed and precision, the gun’s nozzle inserts snap in quickly to maintain “a clean spray pattern, high transfer efficiency, and reliable results” across industries from automotive to wood finishing to yacht and boat building.

Dürr has rethought the gun’s entire operating concept, introducing larger adjustment elements and more intuitive haptics for smoother control. A new ergonomically optimized rotary knob replaces the old spray-air lever—an upgrade that “prevents accidental adjustments and can be completely closed if necessary”, the company has said.

An improved air valve helps painters “set the pressure right from the first trigger pressure point,” providing more confidence during fine-tuned work.

In a move to cut complexity, the EcoGun ACE pro trims its configuration to just four air cap variants. Two conventional and two low-volume, low-pressure caps now cover all nozzle diameters from 1.2 to 2.5 millimeters, spanning seven nozzle sizes.

The streamlined system reduces inventory headaches and minimizes the potential for mix-ups. Even small touches—like keeping the air cap and union nut connected after removal—aim to eliminate loose parts and speed up shop-floor workflows.

The most noticeable difference is aesthetic: a bronze-colored body paired with black controls marks the EcoGun ACE pro as a new generation of spray gun, even as it sticks to the proven principles behind Dürr’s low-pressure line. The company continues to emphasize industrial robustness, precise spray patterns, rapid color changes, improved ergonomics, and cost-effective operation.

The EcoGun ACE pro signals Dürr’s push to tighten performance, reduce downtime, and deliver a cleaner, faster spray experience—while keeping the fundamentals professionals rely on.
