Galaxy Surfactants has delivered a sharp jump in profitability for the second quarter of FY27, with consolidated net profit (PAT) surging 80.1% year-on-year to Rs 119.8 crore, powered by robust volume growth, an improved Specialty Care product mix and sustained demand for premium offerings.

The company's performance gathered further momentum during the first half of FY27, with PAT soaring 95.7% to Rs 285.7 crore. Significantly, the six-month profit has already surpassed the Rs 267.4 crore earned during the entire previous financial year.

Consolidated revenue for Q2FY27 rose 36.4% to Rs 1,816.8 crore, compared with Rs 1,332 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. EBITDA jumped 68.4% to Rs 195.9 crore from Rs 116.3 crore, while EBITDA margin expanded to 10.8% from 8.7%.

EBITDA per metric tonne (MT) increased 56% year-on-year to Rs 26,920, reflecting stronger volumes, a richer Specialty Care portfolio mix and continued traction in premium and masstige products across domestic and international markets.

The growth was broad-based, with consolidated volumes registering high-single-digit growth. India and the AMET (Africa, Middle East and Türkiye) region led the expansion, recording strong double-digit growth in the mid-teens.

However, business in the Rest of the World markets faced headwinds from logistics disruptions and elevated freight costs, which affected volumes. Despite these challenges, demand for premium and masstige Specialty Care products remained healthy.

Commenting on the performance, K. Natarajan, Managing Director, Galaxy Surfactants Ltd, said, “We are pleased with the strong performance delivered in Q2 FY27. The broad-based growth in India, continued recovery in AMET and sustained momentum in Specialty Care demonstrate the strength and resilience of our business.

"Our ability to make disciplined commercial decisions and leverage our diversified portfolio has enabled us to deliver a robust performance despite a challenging external environment.

"The performance over the last two quarters also reflects the exceptional efforts and collaboration of our teams across business development, commercial excellence, procurement, global logistics, manufacturing and operations."

He added: "Their agility, commitment and focused execution have ensured business continuity amid significant external disruptions. With an improving business mix and continued momentum in Specialty Care, we remain confident in delivering sustainable and profitable growth. Importantly, PAT for the first six months of FY27 has already surpassed the PAT delivered for the entire previous financial year, making a significant milestone for the company.

"Demand indicators remain encouraging across key markets, with healthy consumption trends in India, improving conditions in AMET and positive Specialty Care demand across geographies. The Company remains vigilant regarding developments in West Asia and their potential implications for global logistics, freight rates and feedstock availability.”

For the first half of FY27, consolidated revenue increased 37.4% to Rs 3,602 crore, while EBITDA surged 78.4% to Rs 448.4 crore. PAT climbed to Rs 285.7 crore, marking a 95.7% increase over Rs 146 crore in H1FY26.

The strong earnings momentum comes against a challenging global backdrop, with geopolitical developments in West Asia posing potential risks to freight rates, supply chains and feedstock availability.
