Mitsubishi Chemical to sell logistics unit to SBS Holdings
MCLC has long handled transportation and storage for Mitsubishi Chemical Group products and raw materials

Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation has agreed to sell its wholly owned logistics subsidiary, Mitsubishi Chemical Logistics Corporation (MCLC), to Japanese logistics provider SBS Holdings, as the chemical giant moves to place the business under a specialist operator.
Mitsubishi Chemical said the share transfer is intended to strengthen MCLC’s competitiveness and support the stable operation of logistics services across the Mitsubishi Chemical Group.
MCLC has long handled transportation and storage for Mitsubishi Chemical Group products and raw materials, as well as logistics operations at manufacturing sites. But the logistics industry is facing mounting pressure from labor shortages, tighter environmental requirements and the need for greater digitalization, Mitsubishi Chemical said.
The company concluded that MCLC would be better positioned for further growth under a dedicated logistics specialist.
“Against this backdrop, MCC has concluded that MCLC is best managed by a logistics specialist to ensure the stable operation of MCC Group’s logistics functions and to drive MCLC’s further growth.”
Under SBS ownership, MCLC plans to expand its chemical logistics capabilities by tapping SBS’s logistics network, operational expertise and broader customer base. The company also aims to promote cross-industry collaboration and improve efficiency across the chemical logistics sector.
Mitsubishi Chemical said it will continue working closely with MCLC as a key logistics service provider to maintain a safe, stable and efficient supply chain.
