BASF has appointed Tatiana Kalman as head of the Personal Care Europe regional business unit and as the new Managing Director of BASF Personal Care and Nutrition GmbH located in Monheim, Germany, effective July 1, 2022. She succeeds Dr. Marko Grozdanovic who has taken up the responsibility for the unit Global Strategic Marketing Agricultural Solutions at the Agrochemicals business of BASF.

Prior to her current role, Kalman has been Senior Vice President of BASF’s Performance Chemicals business for North and South America. In the last two and a half years she has been responsible for the development of that unit, which is serving industries like automotive manufacturing, electric engineering, packaging, sports and leisure, household and construction. She is familiar with the Personal Care business as she had been leading the Care Chemicals business of BASF in South America from 2017 to 2020.

Overall, Kalman has been working for BASF for more than 20 years, starting her career with a traineeship after getting her degree and master’s degree in economics from the university Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP) and Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), Brazil, respectively. In the first 10 years of her career, she worked in the upstream area of Industrial Chemicals, while in the last 11 years she was focusing on downstream areas such as Nutrition & Health, Care Chemicals and Performance Chemicals in the Americas. In the first years of her career, she has been managing different roles in controlling, sales and marketing. For the past 15 years, she has been in charge of business management.

“I am extremely happy to be back to the Care Chemicals division of BASF and especially the Personal Care business,” says Kalman. “This business is close to my heart, and I am convinced we can create an even brighter future with the combination of a science based, experienced team, which is at the same time very motivated and committed. Innovative and sustainable solutions will continue to be core to address our customers.”

BASF's Personal Care business in Europe is headquartered in Monheim, Germany, where Kalman will take the role of Managing Director for the legal entity.  Düsseldorf is home to BASF's third largest site in Europe and the world's largest and most important BASF site for the production and development of cosmetic ingredients.
