Jacques Vandermeiren has stepped down as CEO of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. After leading the port since 2017, his departure marks the beginning of a new strategic phase for the organization.

The current Chief Operating Officer (COO), Rob Smeets, has assumed the role of CEO ad interim to ensure continuity of day-to-day operations.

Port of Antwerp-Bruges is entering a capital-intensive implementation phase for large infrastructure projects, including the Extra Container Capacity Antwerp (ECA) and the New Zeebrugge Lock. The board determined it was appropriate for a new leader to design and implement this next decade-long strategic plan from the outset.

The entire Board of Directors expressly thanks Jacques for his commitment, engagement and achievements. We wish him every success and fulfilment in whatever lies ahead. ”
