Prashant Kumar Singh takes charge of Secretary, MNRE

Singh is an IAS Officer of the 1993 batch belonging to the Manipur cadre

The Govt. of India has appointed Prashant Kumar Singh as the new Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). He replaces Bhupinder Singh Bhalla post his who superannuated from the post.

Singh is an IAS Officer of the 1993 batch belonging to the Manipur cadre. Before taking up this new role, he has been working as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the MNRE for the past six weeks.

Prior to joining the MNRE, Singh was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), a special-purpose vehicle under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi and a gold medal in Master’s degree in Public Policy & Sustainable Development from TERI University, New Delhi.
