Professor (Dr.) G. D. Yadav named among Asia’s top 100 Scientist

Professor (Dr.) Ganapati D. Yadav, Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai, India has been named among Asia’s top 100 most outstanding researchers.

Every year since 2016, Asian Scientist Magazine compiles a list of Asia’s most outstanding researchers. Now into its eighth edition, the Asian Scientist 100 list celebrates the success of the region’s best and brightest, highlighting their achievements across a range of scientific disciplines.

To be acknowledged on this list, the honouree must have received a national or international prize in the preceding year for his or her research. Alternatively, he or she must have made a significant scientific discovery or provided leadership in academia or industry.

Speaking on the development, Prof. (Dr.) Yadav said: “I am really happy to be counted among the top 100 scientists in Asia. This is a great honor to my alma mater and Karmabhumi Institute of Chemical Technology (iCT) Mumbai where I spent my entire life from my student days till I retired as the Vice-Chancellor. It is a reflection of the excellent work done by my 111 PhD, 147 Masters and 48 post doctoral researchers. I was also recognized as the only second Indian to be elected to the US National Academy of Inventors. I must thank all my students, colleagues and family for supporting me. I also thank the many industries I am associated with and have funded my research. This is the honor of India.  Particularly my research and technology development of green hydrogen (less than a dollar per kilo), carbon dioxide valroziation, biomass conversion to chemicals, fuels and materials and waste plastic recyciling is recognised.”

Professor Ganapati D. Yadav is one of the topmost, highly prolific, and accomplished engineering-scientists in India. He is the National Science Chair of Govt. of India, which is a very prestigious national honor and is Emeritus Professor of Eminence and is the former Vice Chancellor of the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai.

Having been elected to all science & engineering academies in India, and US National Academy of Engineering, & US National Academy of Inventors and a Padmashri awardee (2016), he is internationally recognized by over 125 prestigious and rare awards as an academician, researcher, and innovator, including his seminal contributions to education, research and innovation in Green Chemistry and Engineering, Catalysis, Chemical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, and Development of Clean and Green Technologies.

His patented work on the net zero goal, green hydrogen production technology, carbon dioxide refineries and valorization of (waste) biomass and waste plastics is internationally acclaimed. His productivity is phenomenal: 515 original research papers, 120 granted national and PCT patents, 8 new patent applications; written 3 books; h-index of 67, i10 index of 337; 16,500+ citations.

He is on the board of 6 listed companies as an Independent Director such as Godrej Industries, Aarti Industries, Clean Science & Technology, Meghmani Organics, Bhageria Industries and Survival Technology.
