PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC) is maintaining full-capacity polyethylene (PE) production despite ongoing global market uncertainty.
The company emphasizes that domestic PE supply remains sufficient and is working closely with government agencies, business partners, customers, and stakeholders to guarantee uninterrupted delivery to the local market.
PE plastic resins—including HDPE, LDPE, and LLDPE—are essential raw materials for everyday products, from plastic shopping bags, bottle caps, and food wrap films to opaque personal care bottles, water tanks, fishing nets, and infrastructure materials such as black water pipes and electrical conduits.
GC is prioritizing full-scale production with a “Domestic First” allocation strategy, alongside meticulous delivery management to support downstream industries.
The company attributes its uninterrupted output to its integrated value chain, spanning operations from upstream to downstream. This setup allows flexible feedstock and production management, including the use of internally manufactured feedstock, helping mitigate risks from global volatility and supply chain disruptions.
Some plastic resins, particularly polypropylene (PP), have recently faced temporary tightness due to global supply constraints and import limitations, as many countries prioritize domestic needs. PP is vital for food packaging products, including hot food bags, ready-to-eat packaging, beverage cups, microwaveable containers, and industrial bulk bags.
To ease supply pressures, GC will restart one of its olefins units in April following scheduled maintenance. The move will boost propylene production—the key feedstock for PP—supporting domestic PP producers and reinforcing the overall industrial supply chain.
GC continues to work with both public and private partners to manage the supply chain end-to-end—from feedstock sourcing and production to product delivery—ensuring products reach customers “continuously and reliably.”
