IS-Dyestuff Industries Ltd. has proposed to expand its existing dyes and dye intermediates manufacturing unit at Dudhwada in Gujarat?s Vadodara district. In its presentation to the Ministry of Environment and Forests for environmental clearance, the company said it wants to expand production activity by means of increasing production of the existing products and also addition of some new dyes and dye intermediates within existing premises.

"The company has decided to expand its base by increasing the production capacity of various dyes and intermediates at its present location," it said.

"At this location wherein the expansion is proposed, the unit is currently engaged in the manufacturing of dye intermediate, Sulpho Tobias Acid. The unit proposes expansion in the form of addition of new plants for production of dye intermediates like H acid, various sulphon, dyes and other dye intermediates."

The total proposed cost of the project is Rs 25 crore. The capital cost of air and water pollution control system and environmental monitoring equipment is Rs 3 crore.

The company said there will be positive impact on the socio-economic environment since the proposed expansion will generate some permanent and secondary employment and it will increase direct and indirect employment opportunities.

The increasing industrial activity will also boost up the commercial and economic status of the locality, it said.

According to the company, though some hazardous processes are involved in the manufacturing, adequate precaution is being taken and will continue to be taken.

In order to mitigate the air pollutants and to attenuate the noise generated by the plant and also improving the ecology and aesthetics of the area, the unit will develop the additional green belt, the company said.

The company it will adopt all safety and hazard identification measures besides a strong disaster management policy.

There will be medical check-up facilities for all employees, the company said.
