The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) has constituted two sub-groups on chemicals and petrochemicals under the working group on chemicals and petrochemicals to be adopted for the 12th Five Year Plan.

has constituted two sub-groups on chemicals and petrochemicals under the working
group on chemicals and petrochemicals to be adopted for the 12th Five Year Plan.
Both the sub-groups are required to assess the performance of the chemical and
petrochemical industry during the 11th Five Year Plan and suggest way forward
for the 12th Plan and beyond, the DCPC said.
The final working group report is required to be submitted to the Planning
Commission.
The initiative has been taken by the government to boost growth through renewed
focus on the manufacturing sector and that the chemical and petrochemical
sectors could contribute exponentially to this growth.
The following sub-groups would be constituted under the chemical sector to
deliberate on the roadmap and strategies to be adopted for the 12th Plan:
1. Organic and speciality chemicals
2. Chlor-alkali and inorganic chemicals
3. Dyestuffs and dye intermediates
4. Pesticides and agro chemicals
For the petrochemicals sector, the following organisations and associations have
been chosen to provide inputs for the report of the sub-group: Chemicals and
Petrochemicals Manufacturers Association (CPMA), Association of Synthetic Fibre
Industry (ASFI), All India Plastics Manufacturers Association (AIPMA),
Organization of Plastic Processors of India (OPPI), Central Institute of Plastic
Engineering and Technology (CIPET), IIT-Delhi, NCL-Pune, IIP-Dehradun,
PLEXCONCIL, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, RIL, HPL, GAIL, OPaL, MRPL, HPL-Mittal, Essar,
BCPL, AIFTMA and Plastindia Foundation.
