Modi will lay the foundation stone of 360 KTPA polypropylene plant, spread into 600 acres of land at NRL
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the bioethanol project of Assam Bio-ethanol Private Limited (ABPL) at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and also lay the foundation stone of Polypropylene (PP) plant at Golaghat on September 14, 2025.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of major infrastructure and industrial development projects worth over Rs. 18,530 crore in Assam. He will lay the foundation stone of various projects at Darrang thereafter he will inaugurate Assam Bio-ethanol Private Limited, Numaligarh Refinery Plant and also lay the foundation stone of Polypropylene Plant at Golaghat.
At Numaligarh in Golaghat, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Rs. 4,200 crore bioethanol plant at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) aimed at promoting clean energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
The project is aimed at producing 48,900 MT of ethanol, 11,000 TPA of acetic acid, 19,000 TPA of furfural from raw bamboo feedstocks, and 31,000 MT of food grade liquid CO2 based on technology supplied by Fortum and Chempolis OY.
ABEPL is a joint venture between NRL and two Finnish companies Fortum and Chempolis Oy. It is the first bio refinery to produce fuel grade ethanol from bamboo biomass.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of the Polypropylene (PP) plant in 600 acres of land at NRL, adding significant value to Assam’s petrochemical sector. The PP plant, with a capacity of 360 KTPA, will be set up with an investment of Rs. 7,200 crore. It will also generate employment opportunities and lead to overall socio economic development of the region.
On September 13, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of 30 TMTPA (thousand metric tons per annum) LPG Bottling Plant at Mualkhang in Aizawl, Mizoram. The project will aim at ensuring a steady and reliable supply of LPG in Mizoram and neighbouring states providing easier access to clean cooking fuel and will also create local employment opportunities.
