Plastipak Packaging has opened a new PET Material Center in Verbania, Italy, backed by an investment of more than €25 million to advance recycled materials and circular packaging solutions.
The facility manufactures pakPET Single Pellet Solution, a PET resin containing 30% recycled content. The technology is designed to help manufacturers incorporate recycled materials into existing production operations while maintaining packaging quality, consistency and manufacturing efficiency.
Italian government officials joined Ed Morgan, Plastipak CEO, at the October 14 opening ceremony, marking a significant investment in the company’s European materials and manufacturing capabilities.
The new center strengthens Plastipak’s global recycling infrastructure. With five recycling facilities worldwide, the company is expanding its capacity to recover valuable materials, return them to production and support the shift towards a more circular economy.
By combining expertise in recycling, resin production, preforms and packaging manufacturing, Plastipak aims to give customers more practical options for meeting their recycled-content targets without disrupting established PET operations.
At the heart of the facility is pakPET Single Pellet Solution, which combines virgin PET performance with recycled content in a single, ready-to-use resin. Its single-pellet formulation is designed to simplify processing, deliver consistent packaging performance and make recycled-content integration easier for manufacturers.
“Customers need solutions that make recycled content easier to incorporate while delivering the quality and reliability their operations depend on,” said Pedro Martins, Executive Managing Director, Europe. “Our PET Material Center in Verbania brings together Plastipak’s materials expertise and manufacturing capabilities to help customers move their packaging goals forward.”
