Dow is introducing EcoSense 2470 Surfactant, providing customers with a sustainable solution to meet their formulation goals by harnessing innovative carbon capture technology for the home care market. Developed in collaboration with LanzaTech Global, Inc., the carbon recycling company transforming waste carbon into sustainable raw materials, this surfactant contributes to a circular carbon economy without sacrificing performance.

The official launch of EcoSense 2470 Surfactant will take place during a presentation at the Innovation Forum with Dow experts at the SEPAWA Congress, held from October 25 – 27 in Berlin, Germany.

EcoSense 2470 Surfactant empowers brand owners to advance sustainability by seamlessly incorporating recycled carbon materials into their products. Adopters of EcoSense 2470 will benefit from a drop-in solution that maintains high performance, ensuring a swift market entry while contributing to the development of a new circular carbon economy.

"The capability to provide cleaning solutions made from recycled carbon with outstanding effectiveness is a distinguishing factor that significantly influences the purchasing decisions of household consumers,” said Farooq Alam, Global Strategic Marketing Director, Dow Home Care. “EcoSense™ 2470 Surfactant underscores our dedication to eco-conscious surfactant manufacturing, serving as the gateway to a sustainable future. It sends a resounding message to both home care brand owners and consumers that sustainability and superior performance work hand-in-hand harmoniously.”

This remarkable surfactant is the product of a collaboration with LanzaTech, a renowned pioneer in circular carbon capture technology. LanzaTech is a first mover in an innovative method that involves transforming recycled carbon into ethanol, a significant step towards enhancing the sustainability of cleaning products.

“There is enough carbon above ground to make all the things we need, “said Jennifer Holmgren, CEO of LanzaTech. “We have been active in the ethoxylates space for several years, converting ethanol to surfactant ingredients. Together with Dow we can now greatly expand our reach in this market. We can pave the way for recycled carbon home care products that deliver both sustainability and product quality. There is no need to compromise when doing good for the planet.”
