Excel Industries Limited has secured a Silver Rating in the EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment, placing the Indian manufacturer among the top 15% of companies assessed globally by EcoVadis.

The recognition comes as Excel Industries steps up its focus on sustainability across its operations and looks to expand its global footprint and contract manufacturing business.

The company manufactures agrochemical intermediates, yellow phosphorus derivatives, performance solutions, pharma intermediates and APIs.

The EcoVadis assessment evaluates companies across 21 sustainability criteria spanning four core pillars: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The assessment is benchmarked against internationally recognised frameworks, including the UN Global Compact, ILO conventions, GRI Standards and the TCFD framework.

According to Excel Industries, the Silver rating reflects the strength of its sustainability management framework and the evidence supporting its disclosures.

The company said the assessment recognised progress in four key areas: stronger sustainability management systems; deeper value-chain engagement; improved environmental performance; greater transparency in reporting.

Excel Industries said sustainability is embedded in its operating philosophy of “People, Planet and Progress”, with the approach extending across its manufacturing sites, product development and supply-chain decisions.

The company said the EcoVadis recognition is expected to support its efforts to establish itself as a reliable, sustainability-focused supplier as it expands internationally and grows its presence in performance solutions and contract manufacturing.

Commenting on the achievement, Ravi A. Shroff, Managing Director, Excel Industries Limited, said: “Achieving the Silver rating in the EcoVadis assessment is an important validation of the way sustainability is integrated into our business. It reflects the strength of our Sustainability management framework and the collective effort of our teams across every site and function.

"We are hopeful that this assessment will help in customers seeing us as a reliable business partner committed to sustainability and help in strengthening the relations with our existing customers as well as forging new relationships as we seek to expand our global footprint and presence in performance solutions and contract manufacturing."
