Epsilon Carbon, a leading global producer of carbon black and specialty carbon products, today released its 5th annual Sustainability Report for FY 2024–25. The theme of the report “Carbon Conscious Value Chain,” highlights Epsilon Carbon’s integrated approach to sustainability.

During the reporting year, Epsilon Carbon achieved a 90 per cent reduction in Scope 2 emissions through its 17 MW captive power plant, which utilizes waste heat from its carbon black operations.

The company also reported a 19 per cent reduction in energy consumption intensity compared to its baseline year, with 68 per cent of its total energy needs met through waste heat recovery and avoided over 50,000 tons of CO2 emissions. Epsilon Carbon also completed its Scope 3 GHG emissions inventory for FY24 and FY25 for a transparent and data-driven climate action.

The report also highlights the company’s strong social and governance performance with zero fatalities and a Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) of 0.2, showing its commitment to safety culture. The company’s workforce diversity continued to improve, with women accounting for 9.82% of employees and 10% board representation. Through its CSR programs focused on education, healthcare, and livelihoods, Epsilon Carbon positively impacted over 1, 65,000 lives during FY25.

Commenting on the release of Sustainability Report 2024-2025, Vikram Handa, Managing Director of Epsilon Carbon, said, “This year has shown us how much we can achieve when we stay focused on our customers, our people, and our responsibility to the planet. Whether it’s reducing emissions, using resources more responsibly, or supporting our communities, every step reflects the future we want to create. Sustainability and innovation go hand in hand for a chemical company like ours, whether through circular solutions like TerrablackTM or digital systems that track our emissions and environmental performance. We will continue to grow Epsilon Carbon responsibly and ensure our work leaves a positive impact on people and the planet.”

Epsilon Carbon’s sustainability reporting framework aligns with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) 2021 Standards, the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Third party assurance has been done by TÜV India to entrust company’s commitment to credible and transparent disclosures.

Looking ahead, Epsilon Carbon is advancing its circularity vision by building India’s first fully integrated tyre recycling plant in Karnataka by FY27. The plant will process 30,000 metric tons of end-of-life tyres annually for Terrablack products that shows company’s tyre circular economy principles into action.
