Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GNFC) has announced a major achievement in its sustainability journey with the successful installation of Clariant's EnviCat N2O-S catalyst at its nitric acid plant. This initiative has resulted in a substantial reduction of nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions, contributing significantly to reducing our carbon footprint.

The EnviCat N2O-S catalyst, has demonstrated exceptional performance, reducing N2O emissions by approximately 44,000 tons per month of CO2 equivalent (CO2e). This achievement aligns with GNFC's long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability and marks a major step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions from our manufacturing processes.

Commenting on the achievement, M. I. Shamsi, Executive Director of GNFC, stated, "Our collaboration with Clariant and the installation of the EnviCat N2O-S catalyst is a testament to our commitment towards environmental stewardship. This step not only strengthens our sustainability goals but also demonstrates our responsibility as an industry leader in reducing our carbon footprint."

The projected annual CO2e reduction from this initiative is estimated to be around 520,000 metric tons, with further improvements anticipated after the next scheduled maintenance shutdown.
