Industry leaders to discuss greener options at ICC Sustainability Conclave 2022

New Delhi all set to host ICC Sustainability Conclave 2022

The 4th edition of the event to focus on broadening sustainability horizons Indian Chemical Council (ICC) is back with the 4th edition of its flagship event – “ICC Sustainability Conclave 2022’ to be held on on November 17 and 18, 2022 in New Delhi.

This time around the theme is ‘Boardrooms to Community - ESG, Carbon Neutrality, Operational Safety, Greener Solutions’ The event that promotes sustainability in the management of the entire life cycle of chemicals is being organized jointly with United Nations Environment Program (UNEP); International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) and with due support of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India.

The inaugural session on 17th November at the event will be addressed by the Chief Guest, Arun Baroka, Secretary, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers. The opening session on 18th November will be graced by Bhagwanth Khuba, Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers and, New and Renewable Energy.

The chemical industry is contributing immensely to improving the quality of life by offering various solutions and products. Many of these are not recycled, rather produced in ways that emit greenhouse gases. With growing societal concern over climate change and waste, some end-users, environmental groups, and financial institutions are demanding greener products and manufacturing practices.

In this context, this edition of the two-day conclave will broadly focus on the topics such as ESG in Boardrooms: Vision and Strategies for value creation; Decarbonizing the Chemical Sector: Reflectionsto Actions Product; Stewardship: Going beyond Regulatory Landscape; Unlocking the potential of Digital Transformation for Sustainability; Exploring Green Growth Opportunities: Solutions & Technologies; Leveraging Cleaner Energy Transitions; Safety promotes Sustainability; Embracing Net-Zero Transition: Risks & Opportunities; and Session by UNEP -Plastic Pollution: Strengthening the Role of the Industry.

The conclave will be attended by CEOs and representatives of the Indian and global chemical companies, people working in EHS dept. in companies; Central and State Government officials, Pollution Control Boards, international multilateral organizations, Global chemical industry bodies and experts from Academia and civilsociety organizations.

Currently, the focus is on delivering products and materials with a lower environmental impact, including lower carbon footprints. As industries increasingly shift away from fossil fuels and transition to renewable sources, chemicals will play a central role in moving the economy to net-zero emissions.
