As nations and corporations struggle to meet methane emissions targets, Montrose Environmental Group is stepping up with a game-changing solution.
The company’s latest innovation, the patent-pending VeriPlume Capture System, tackles one of the oil and gas industry’s most stubborn problems: high-volume methane vents.
The system not only improves emissions measurement but also keeps technicians safer.
"Reducing methane emissions is one of the fastest, most effective ways to slow rising global temperatures, and innovation is at the heart of that mission,” said Steve Woodard, Chief Innovation Officer at Montrose Environmental Group.
“The VeriPlume Capture System exemplifies how Montrose combines engineering ingenuity with environmental responsibility to deliver solutions that protect the planet, improve technician safety and help our clients meet evolving regulatory requirements.”
Traditional vent measurement methods often rely on costly man-lifts and expose workers to risk. VeriPlume’s lightweight, carbon-fiber telescoping design allows technicians to measure emissions from the ground, eliminating friction losses common in older hose-based systems.
The result: faster deployment, more accurate data, and significant cost savings for clients. The technology also helps oil and gas operators comply with EPA OOOO-b regulations, which require repair of vents that exceed gas emission limits—a category consistently larger than fugitive leaks.
Montrose’s leadership in environmental technology extends beyond methane. The company holds 31 patents and multiple trademarks, with a growing portfolio addressing some of the world’s toughest challenges.
