Perstorp launches Akestra in US to support PCR and carbon footprint reduction for food packaging

Akestra is enabling circularity, allowing rPET food packaging to withstands hot-fill applications

Specialty chemicals producer Perstorp is excited to announce that the Akestr solution, is now available to U.S. Akestra is a thermoplastic that will enhance the functionality and circularity of recycled PET (rPET) for the food packaging industry. With unique properties that address critical sustainability and performance needs, Akestra provides an ideal solution for high-demand plastic applications, including hot-fill and hot food & beverage service consumer packaging.

Akestra is enabling circularity, allowing rPET food packaging to withstands hot-fill applications and incorporates up to 90% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. With the capacity to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 70% from cradle to grave, Akestra offers manufacturers alternative that aligns with both industry needs and environmental goals.
