Sibur launches PolyLow brand to push low-carbon polymer production across its portfolio

SIBUR plans to expand the PolyLow lineup further, extending low-carbon production methods across additional polymer product categories

Russian petrochemical major SIBUR has launched a new low-carbon materials brand, PolyLow, marking a fresh push into decarbonised polymer production.
 
The initiative brings together a portfolio of polymer products designed with a reduced carbon footprint, aligning sustainability goals with growing customer demand for lower-emission materials.
 
At launch, the PolyLow range includes low-carbon PET produced at the POLIEF plant in Bashkortostan and the SIBUR-PETF facility in Russia’s Tver Region. The company says this output is enabled by a combined strategy of energy- and resource-efficiency upgrades alongside the use of renewable electricity in production.
 
SIBUR plans to expand the PolyLow lineup further, extending low-carbon production methods across additional polymer product categories as part of its longer-term climate strategy.
 
The company’s move also aligns with Russia’s broader development agenda targeting carbon neutrality by 2060.
 
Framing the launch within its sustainability roadmap, SIBUR highlighted low-carbon development as a core strategic priority. The company says it is actively rolling out large-scale decarbonisation projects and currently operates 12 registered climate initiatives—among the largest portfolios in Russia’s industrial sector.
 
Alongside process upgrades aimed at cutting emissions and improving efficiency, SIBUR is also expanding its use of renewable energy. 
 
In 2025 alone, its facilities generated or procured more than 66,000 MWh of renewable electricity. Solar installations are already in place at multiple sites, including the POLIEF plant, the SIBUR-Yug corporate recreation centre, and the PolyLab research facility in Moscow.
