Syensqo has achieved validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets for 2030.

By 2030, Syensqo now aims to reduce its scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% compared to its 2021 level. Syensqo also commits to reduce its scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% in the same timeframe.

Syensqo’s 2030 ambition is in line with a 1.5°C trajectory and prepares for Syensqo's objective to achieve carbon neutrality of its scope 1 and 2 by 2040 with reducing emissions by at least 80% compared to 2021 and compensating residual, hard-to-abate emissions with high-integrity credits.

To advance concretely on its Scope 3 emissions reduction, the company is launching a Climate Pledge targeting a mutual agreement with at least its top 70 suppliers, which account for c.80% of the group’s GHG emissions from raw materials purchased, with the aim of creating more sustainable value chains across its markets.

Through the Climate Pledge, Syensqo’s suppliers will commit to play a key partner role in Syensqo’s decarbonization efforts by setting up a roadmap and milestones to reduce the carbon footprint of their products and operations.
