Syensqo’s Moerdijk plant achieves ISCC PLUS Certification for bio-circular laundry surfactants

From January 2026, the company will supply certified laureth-7 for liquid laundry detergents under its Rhodasurf B7 UP brand

Syensqo has announced that its Moerdijk manufacturing site in the Netherlands has secured ISCC PLUS mass-balance certification for its Rhodasurf laundry care surfactant, marking a major step in the company’s sustainability drive.

The certification validates that Syensqo has a third-party-verified chain of custody to track bio-circular ethoxylate feedstocks. From January 2026, the company will supply certified laureth-7 for liquid laundry detergents under its Rhodasurf B7 UP brand.

ISCC PLUS certification confirms that bio-circular raw materials are properly allocated along the Ethylene Oxide value chain, enabling the production of 100% natural, lower-carbon alcohol ethoxylates. Customers benefit from a drop-in solution that requires no changes to existing formulations or supply chains.

“Securing ISCC PLUS certification for our Moerdijk ethoxylation unit marks an important step in expanding the availability of 100% natural, low-carbon-footprint surfactants for the home care market,” said Max Chabert, Syensqo Global Marketing Manager for Home Care.

“By applying a mass-balance approach with bio-circular feedstocks at our existing on-pipe ethoxylation facility, we can help customers accelerate the transformation of their laundry formulations while maintaining the performance, reliability and supply security they expect.”

The new certified grade tackles a key challenge for FMCG companies and private label manufacturers: sourcing natural-origin surfactants with a significantly reduced CO2 footprint at industrial scale.

By combining ISCC PLUS certification with its established alcohol ethoxylation capabilities, Syensqo offers laundry care formulators robust, verified solutions for a wide range of brands and formats.

Aligned with its One Planet roadmap, the Moerdijk certification builds on Syensqo’s earlier ISCC PLUS certification of its Zhangjiagang, China, plant in 2022, reinforcing the company’s position as a partner for innovation pipelines that meet rising expectations for sustainability, transparency, and circularity.
