Durr unveils EcoAUC2: Next-level control for industrial painting

The system positions itself as the “central component for reliable and efficient painting processes.”

Dürr is setting a new benchmark in industrial coating technology with the launch of its EcoAUC2 control unit, now equipped with more colors, expanded functions, and, for the first time, full control over cleaning equipment for multiple applicators.

The system positions itself as the “central component for reliable and efficient painting processes.”

“Control units need to be precisely tailored to the dosing technology and applicator to ensure reliable operation of the overall system,” says Dürr.

The EcoAUC2 answers that demand, raising application control to a new level while simplifying integration into modern production plants.

Its enhanced capabilities now include a high-speed unloader that improves cycle times and boosts safety when working with high voltage. Optionally, an integrated air heater ensures consistent application quality even in humid or warm environments. Seamless data exchange is possible via interfaces such as PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and DeviceNet.

For the first time, cleaning equipment for Dürr’s atomizers is fully controlled via the EcoAUC2. The system automatically detects when an applicator is de-energized, only then initiating the cleaning cycle. This reduces integration effort and eliminates potentially hazardous situations, particularly when handling the high-speed EcoBell2 rotary atomizer.

The EcoAUC2 now manages up to 20 colors—twice the capacity of its predecessor. “We are seeing a clear trend towards personalization in many applications, which is why we doubled the color selection during the development process,” says Stephan Voigt, product engineer at Dürr. Hardener support has also increased from three to five components, enabling more complex paint formulations with ease.

Compactly housed in a single cabinet, the EcoAUC2 integrates the process controller, compressed air system, visualization display, and interfaces for robot control and safety PLCs.

Fully aligned with Dürr’s ready2integrate concept, the unit can be deployed immediately on site with minimal setup. Its intuitive, oversized display makes monitoring and operation simple, extending the possibilities of automated application technology for anyone seeking flexibility, reliability, and versatility in industrial coating.
