Kemira and Hazer Group strike deal to explore methane pyrolysis technology

The two companies will collaborate to assess both the technical and commercial feasibility of deploying Hazer’s technology

Kemira and Hazer Group have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore commercial opportunities for Hazer’s proprietary methane pyrolysis technology.

Under the agreement, the two companies will collaborate to assess both the technical and commercial feasibility of deploying Hazer’s technology—or its products—within Kemira’s operations. Kemira will test Hazer carbon in water treatment and evaluate the potential integration of Hazer’s process in industrial applications. If early assessments prove positive, the companies plan to discuss commercial collaboration, including technology licensing and product offtake.

“We are delighted to partner with Kemira, a global leader in sustainable chemical solutions for water intensive industries. This collaboration further confirms Hazer’s position as a leading provider of methane pyrolysis technology, and the interest in Hazer Graphite. We look forward to collaborating with Kemira,” said Hazer CEO and MD Glenn Corrie.

Kemira’s EVP of Research & Innovation Sampo Lahtinen added: “We have identified Hazer’s technology to be very exciting and advanced, and we look forward to working with Hazer to investigate the integration of Hazer’s innovative technology across Kemira’s operations.”
