Tecnimont (Maire) bags US$ 1.1 billion petrochemical contract from Sonatrach

The EPCC contract refers to a plant for intermediates for the detergent and surfactant industries

MAIRE announces that its subsidiary Tecnimont (Integrated E&C Solutions) has been awarded by Sonatrach through a tendering process an EPCC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning) contract for a new linear alkyl benzene (LAB) plant in the industrial zone of Skikda, located 350 km east of Algeri.

LAB is a cost-effective and biodegradable intermediate used in the production of household detergents, industrial cleaners and surfactants.

The contract value is approximately US$ 1.1 billion. The scope of the project entails the implementation of a new LAB plant with a production capacity of 100,000 tons per year, and the associated utilities, offsites and interconnections with the existing facilities. The completion of the project is scheduled within 44 months from the contract’s effective date.
