Thyssenkrupp nucera has secured another chlor-alkali technology order in China worth a low double-digit million-euro sum, strengthening its foothold in the country and expanding its installed base in Northwest China, a major hub for large-scale chlor-alkali production.
Hongniu Lanzhou Environmental Protection Technology has selected thyssenkrupp nucera to provide licensing, engineering and procurement services, key equipment and commissioning support for a new chlor-alkali project.
The order further reinforces thyssenkrupp nucera’s position in China’s chlor-alkali market, where demand is being driven by industrial expansion, capacity additions, modernization and growing pressure for greater energy efficiency and environmental performance.

Hongniu Lanzhou chose thyssenkrupp nucera based on its established technology, operating references, project execution capabilities and lifecycle support. The project will use thyssenkrupp nucera’s latest-generation e-BiTAC v7 technology for energy-efficient chlor-alkali electrolysis.
The e-BiTAC v7 technology achieves power consumption of less than 1,960 kWh per tonne of NaOH at 6 kA/m². Built on thyssenkrupp nucera’s established BiTAC technology platform, the system is designed to improve operational performance, reliability and lifecycle value in demanding industrial environments.
For Hongniu Lanzhou, the project also marks its entry into the chlor-alkali industry.

China remains a major market for the electrolysis specialist, supported by industrial demand, capacity expansion, plant modernization and the push for higher efficiency and improved environmental performance.
