Toyo’s scope in the project includes licensing, basic design, supply of proprietary equipment and technical services
Toyo Engineering has received an order from Amufert SA, a joint venture fertilizer company in the Republic of Angola, to license TOYO's proprietary urea technology for the world's largest large-grain urea plant (4,000 tons per day) to be constructed by Amufert in Soyo, Zaïre Province.
This plant is the first urea fertilizer plant to be constructed in the Republic of Angola, where natural gas production has been increasing in recent years, and will contribute to realizing food security through the shift to 100% domestic production of urea fertilizer, which was previously all imported, and through exports within the region. It will also contribute to the high added value of natural gas resources, improvement of the trade balance through exports to neighboring countries, job creation, and diversification of Angolan industry.
As the licensor for urea synthesis and granulation technologies, Toyo's scope in the project includes licensing, basic design, supply of proprietary equipment and technical services. TOYO will apply its proprietary ACES21 urea synthesis technology and urea granulation technology, enabling cost-effective plant construction and optimized operating conditions. The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the entire fertilizer complex, including ammonia production and auxiliary facilities (OSBL), will be handled by Wuhuan Engineering Co., Ltd. (Wuhuan).
Toyo has a track record of providing its own urea technology and constructing plants in over 100 cases around the world. In Africa, Toyo completed two urea plants, both of which are the world's largest, with daily production capacities of 4,000 tons per day for Nigeria's Indorama Power Plant in 2016 and 2021 using its own urea technology, respectively. A project for a third urea plant of the same scale is currently underway.
Additionally, Toyo has collaborated with Wuhuan on projects in Indonesia, successfully executing urea fertilizer plant projects for PT Petrokimia Gresik in 2015 and PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang in 2023. The proven performance of Toyo’s large-scale plant urea technology and its successful partnership with Wuhuan played a key role in securing this latest contract.
