The US Environmental Protection Agency approves Actizone F5, Solvay’s innovative 24-hour antimicrobial sanitizing technology.
Solvay announced that Actizone F5 has obtained registration by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a “ready-to-use” disinfectant for hard surfaces.
Actizone F5 is formulated with a new revolutionary long-lasting technology that reduces bacteria by 99.9% on hard non-porous surfaces for 24 hours, even after multiple touches. It provides initial disinfection after 5 minutes contact time against a wide range of viruses and bacteria1 including SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
“We are very proud that our technology has achieved this registration.” said Oliver Hufer, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Novecare Incubator at Solvay. “Actizone F5 will soon be available in the United States for the protection of consumers everywhere they go, not just at home but when working, travelling, commuting and simply enjoying day to day life.”
Consumers, businesses and institutions continue to search for ways to uphold health standards and feel protected from bacteria and viruses, particularly from SARS-CoV-2 in their daily life settings. By using Actizone F5, hard surfaces are taken out of the transmission mechanism of bacteria as the technology continues sanitizing long after surfaces have been cleaned, so consumers can enjoy peace of mind and feel confident knowing they are protected for 24 hours.
“It is a significant achievement” explains Dr. Amit Sehgal, Technology Lead - Actizone - Home, Health & Personal Care at Solvay. “From a technical perspective, it transforms the surface from being a vector for the transmission of disease, into an ultrathin transient reservoir of actives that protects people from bacteria until the next application.”
Solvay is now working to obtain state registrations for Actizone F5 required to market in specific states. These are expected to be completed during 2022.
