Grasim Industries commissions VSF and caustic soda line

The company successfully commissioned chloromethane project at Vilayat Unit, Gujarat.

Grasim Industries Ltd. has announced Viscose Staple Fibre (VSF) expansion at Vilayat (Gujarat) and caustic soda expansion at Rehla (Jharkhand). 

The company has successfully commissioned a new line of 300 Ton Per Day (TPD) capacity of VSF and has commenced the commercial production from 1st November 2021. With this the total VSF capacity of the company has increased from 591,000 to 700,500 TPA.

The company has also successfully commissioned the first phase of expansion project of caustic soda at Rehla, Jharkhand in October, 21 with a capacity of 170 TPD caustic soda lye. With this the total caustic soda capacity of the company has increased from 1,147 to 1,209 Kilo Ton Per Annum (KTPA).

Grasim Industries also successfully commissioned chloromethane (CMS) project at Vilayat Unit, Gujarat on 4th November 2021, having capacity of 150 TPD / 50,000 Ton Per Annum (TPA). This will result into an additional annualised revenue of ~Rs. 400 crore.

Grasim is a leading global player in VSF and the largest chlor-alkali player in India. The company has also announced foray in the decorative Paints business.
