IGPL planning Rs. 345 Cr brownfield expansion of phthalic anhydride

The IGPL board has approved brownfield expansion of phthalic anhydride with a capacity of 53,000 MTPA

I G Petrochemicals Ltd. (IGPL), a leading Phthalic Anhydride (PAN), is ramping up its output to meet the demand and supply gap by planning a brownfield expansion of Phthalic anhydride in FY24.

The IGPL board has approved brownfield expansion of phthalic anhydride with a capacity of 53,000 MTPA. The total project cost for brownfield expansion is Rs. 345 crore.

In December 2020, PAN capacity of 53,000 MTPA was commissioned whereas commercial production of DEP (Diethyl Phthalate) (new downstream product i.e. Advance Plasticizer) facility at Taloja, Maharashtra capacity of 8,400 MTPA commercial production has started in November 2021.

I G Petrochemicals Ltd. is an established market leader in Phthalic Anhydride (PAN) with strong recognition and excellent plant facilities of international standards. The company also produces Maleic Anhydride through wash water generated out of the production process of PAN. Maleic Anhydride is used in agro and food businesses. IGPL also manufactures Benzoic Acid (BA) as a by-product.

IGPL is equipped with one of the largest capacities at a single location, which will stand at 2,22,110 MTPA of Phthalic Anhydride, 7,660 MTPA of Maleic Anyhdride and 1,300 MTPA of Benzoic Acid.  The company also has the ability to cater to local and international markets.
