Ineos styrolution launches world’s first fully bio-attributed ABS terluran eco b100

Bio-attributed versions of all Terluran® grades available as B60 and B100 versions

INEOS Styrolution, the global leader in styrenics, has introduced the first bio-attributed Terluran ABS solutions. The new grades complement the earlier introduced mechanicall recycled Terluran ECO materials. In fact, they are the final jigsaw piece in INEOS Styrolution’s polystyrene and ABS portfolio, now consisting of mechanically recycled and bio-attributed solutions for all three products lines, Styrolution PS, Terluran and Novodur, INEOS Styrolution’s specialty ABS.

Terluran is INEOS Styrolution’s standard ABS2 consisting of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene monomer. The company’s new Terluran ECO grades are based on the attribution of renewable feedstock according to an ISCC-certified mass balance approach: the new ISCC certified renewable feedstock can be used as a replacement for conventional feedstock for all three components in ABS (acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene monomer).

This approach allows to maximise the renewable feedstock in the material while minimising the CO2 footprint. Only additives will come from conventional feedstock.

INEOS Styrolution introduces its bio-attributed materials at two levels – they are available as Terluran ECO B60 and as Terluran ECO B100. Terluran ECO B60 grades contain bio-attributed content from styrene monomer from renewable sources, and Terluran ECO B100 grades contain the complete bio-attributed solution with bio-attributed content from all three monomers.

Terluran is the material of choice for a broad range of applications in various industries including automotive, household, electronics, construction and toys, sports & leisure.

Yohann Bach, Product Director ABS standard EMEA says: “This new bio-attributed standard ABS rounds up our range of sustainable Terluran solutions. I expect it to be particularly interesting for customers with very ambitious sustainability goals minimising their ecological footprint while not compromising on performance.”
