Solvay enhances cold-water detergent performance with Solsys Care Max launch

Innovative technology helps detergent manufacturers respond to growing consumer demand for faster, lower-energy laundry routines without compromising performance

Solvay has introduced Solsys Care Max, a high-performance, readily biodegradable laundry solution tailored for detergent formulators. The innovative, low-toxicity oxygenated solvent aligns with major home care shifts by enabling consumers to wash clothes faster, at lower temperatures, and with reduced energy consumption—all while maintaining superior cleaning results.

As households seek to cut energy use, lower utility bills, and save time, cold and quick wash cycles are surging in popularity. However, these shorter, cooler programs can make it harder for detergents to deliver the same deep cleaning performance as traditional, longer washes.

Internal research confirms that formulations with Solsys Care Max boost cleaning performance starting from the first wash, even at temperatures as low as 4°C. The solution also excels in short-cycle programs, matching or exceeding reference formulations in cycles as short as 15 minutes.

In addition to lifting tough stains, Solsys Care Max fights heavy grease while preserving fabric quality. By keeping clothes looking new over time, it ensures a consistently high-quality wash.

"Consumers no longer want to choose between convenience, performance and sustainability," said Antonio Leite, Sales & Marketing Vice-President of Solvay´s Coatis Global Business Unit. "They expect detergents to work effectively in the cold and quick wash programs they increasingly use every day. Solsys Care Max helps detergent manufacturers meet those expectations while supporting more energy-efficient laundry habits."

By enabling effective cleaning in lower-temperature and shorter wash cycles, Solsys Care Max helps detergent formulators develop products aligned with evolving consumer lifestyles and sustainability ambitions. The solution supports efforts to reduce the energy required during the laundry process, one of the largest environmental impacts associated with washing clothes.
