US sees 1.6% drop in production of plastic resins in Nov 21

Year-to-date production was 83.1 billion pounds, a 0.1 percent increase as compared to the same period in 2020.

U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 7.6 billion pounds during November 2021, a decrease of 1.6 percent compared to the prior month, and a decrease of 5.0 percent compared to the same month in 2020, according to statistics released today by the American Chemistry Council (ACC).  Year-to-date production was 83.1 billion pounds, a 0.1 percent increase as compared to the same period in 2020.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 7.5 billion pounds during November 2021, an increase of 1.1 percent compared to the prior month, and an increase of 1.4 percent from the same month one year earlier. Year-to-date sales and captive use were 81.7 billion pounds, a 2.0 percent decrease as compared to the same period in 2020.
