WACKER raises €171 million from Siltronic stake sale

WACKER said the proceeds will strengthen its financial position and give the company greater flexibility to invest in future growth

Wacker Chemie AG has raised approximately €171 million by selling 2.2 million shares in Siltronic AG, cutting its stake in the semiconductor wafer maker to about 15%.

The shares were placed at €77.25 each, representing 6.7% of Siltronic’s capital stock. The transaction was completed through an accelerated bookbuilding process targeting qualified and international institutional investors.

WACKER said the proceeds will strengthen its financial position and give the company greater flexibility to invest in future growth.

"We remain very satisfied with Siltronic's development and continue to support the company's strategy. This transaction strengthens our financial position and creates additional scope to invest in future growth”, says WACKER CEO Christian Hartel.

Despite reducing its holding, WACKER remains a significant shareholder in Siltronic. The company has also agreed not to sell additional Siltronic shares for 90 days following the launch of the placement, subject to certain exemptions and waivers.

Rothschild & Co acted as financial adviser to WACKER on the transaction.

The sale comes as WACKER continues to balance its long-term strategic interest in Siltronic with the need to strengthen its balance sheet and free up capital for future investments.
