ICN organizes E-conference on 'Unlocking Lab Efficiency through Digital Transformation'

With large scale consolidation expected both in the pharma and specialty chemicals market, the winners will be the ones who can scale up efficiently as well as effectively – working smarter, rather than simply working harder or adding more capacity by hiring additional employees.

India’s pharma sector is undergoing significant growth and it is expected to reach US $70 billion in 2020. With large scale consolidation expected in the market, the winners will be the ones who can scale up efficiently as well as effectively – working smarter, rather than simply working harder or adding more capacity by hiring additional employees.

Indian Chemical News (ICN) in partnership with PerkinElmer is organizing an E-conference on "Unlocking Lab Efficiency through Digital Transformation" on June 8, 2021 from 3:00- 4:30 PM. (https://zoom.us/webinar/register/8616208207150/WN_JlrAmC8ISJOCrzhR13olDQ)

The speakers for the Digital Transformation E-conference are: Kapil Kumar, Chief Scientific Officer, SRF Limited; Vinod Shivanand Honmute, Head - Knowledge Management, Aarti Industries Limited; Ankit Aggarwal, Head - Research IT and Scientific Computation, PI Industries Limited; Sanjay Nandawadekar, Director - IT, Cipla Limited; Patrick Ansems, Director - Informatics Field Application Scientists, EMEAI PerkinElmer Inc.; and Manish M. Khandagale, Senior Field Application Specialist, PerkinElmer Inc.

The Key Discussion Points for the E-conference are: Perspective on where the industry is currently in Unlocking Lab Efficiency through Digital Transformation? Benefits achieved by the organizations in its move towards digital platforms? What best practices would you recommend to other scientific R&D organizations to achieve a successful digital transformation journey? What challenges did you face in moving from the paper world to the digital world? How did you overcome these challenges? What advances do you foresee in the next five years within your organization and what type of solutions are you looking for to solve your problem? What are the main challenges companies are facing when it comes to getting the most out of diverse data being generated across various data systems/silos and what is your current strategy? and how companies are adopting and implementing digital solutions Electronic Lab Notebooks and Advanced Visual Analytics successfully?

A good digital transformation strategy is uniquely influenced by a company’s own business objectives but the best of them should hold a few key attributes such as shared vision, adaptability, harmonization and standardization across all internal teams and clear direction to compel forward action, amongst others. Also, companies need built-in agility to respond to shifting needs and opportunities in the market.

Implementations of digital applications in labs shows efficiency improvements can range between 25 to 30 percent – an efficiency that cannot be attained simply by adding more resources to a lab. When one factor in the routine administrative tasks that can be replaced by aligning digital applications, the time saving increases to about 40 percent. In real terms, that means not just improved process efficiency, but faster product development, a more agile response to the demands to develop the new generic drug, and a shorter time to market, overall.
