Hughes Communications India Private Limited announced selection by Nayara Energy, India’s largest private-sector oil retailer, to install, integrate and manage a satellite network solution across 3,500 retail outlets.

Hughes India is a majority-owned subsidiary of Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), an innovator in satellite and multi-transport technologies and networks for 50 years, and already connects more than 4,000 Nayara locations. The new five-year contract nearly doubles the HughesON managed deployment, making it the largest single satellite-based network in India’s retail petroleum sector.

Speaking on their association with Hughes, Stephan Beyeler, Chief Marketing Officer, Nayara Energy said, “Nayara Energy continues in its endeavour to deliver operational excellence across its businesses through robust and technologically advanced solutions and best-in-class processes. Our association with Hughes has been focused towards driving higher connectivity and reliability across the network of 4,000+ automated retail fuel stations in the country. The coverage provided by Hughes through critical VSAT connectivity has proved to be of great value for our franchise network.”

Hughes India, Enterprise Business Head, Shivaji Chatterjee said, “We are very excited and proud of our growing association with Nayara Energy, the largest private fuel retailer in the country, towards delivering a managed, secure connectivity solution for its retail automation which is absolutely mission-critical, designed for today as well as the future. The new solution, part of our HughesON portfolio of managed services, will simplify network operations and help Nayara execute real-time reporting and analysis while improving efficiency and optimizing their operations.”

The software-defined satellite solution for Nayara will employ the Hughes JUPITER System, the de facto standard for satellite implementations worldwide, with routers, gateways, and a network management system designed for high performance and efficiency. Using capacity on the GSAT-16 and SES-9 satellites, the upgraded network will support data transmissions such as daily price updates to remote petrol pumps, fuel tank monitoring, and implementation of a customer loyalty program.
