Initially, the van will cover Bharuch, Narmada, and Vadodara districts, extending its services to reach other parts of Gujarat through health camps
Deepak Phenolics Limited (DPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Deepak Nitrite Limited, has unveiled a transformative initiative with the launch of a Mobile Mammography Van (MMV) designed to detect breast cancer at its early stages.
Aligned with the company’s philosophy of ‘Deepak Cares,’ the MMV aims to address the critical need for early detection and awareness, particularly in underserved regions of Gujarat.
The MMV was officially flagged off in Bharuch by Kunvarji Halpati, Minister of State, Department of Tribal Development, Labour & Employment, Rural Development, Government of Gujarat; alongside Mansukh Vasava, Member of Parliament, Bharuch; Ramesh Mistry, Member of Legislative Assembly, Bharuch; Arunsinh Rana, Member of Legislative Assembly, Vagra; D. K. Swami, Member of Legislative Assembly, Jambusar; and other esteemed dignitaries.
This momentous event also saw the presence of community leaders, local authorities, and employees of the Deepak Group, underscoring collective commitment to this life-saving cause.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers among Indian women, accounting for a significant 15-17% of all cancer cases in Gujarat. With approximately 9,000 new cases emerging annually in India, the need for early detection and timely intervention cannot be overstated.
The MMV is equipped with cutting-edge mammography technology and will serve as a mobile diagnostic unit to reach areas with limited medical access. Initially, the van will cover Bharuch, Narmada, and Vadodara districts, extending its services to reach other parts of Gujarat through health camps. By focusing on women aged 40 and above, the initiative seeks to empower individuals with timely diagnostic tools, ultimately reducing mortality rates by an estimated 25%.
The Mobile Mammography Van is the latest addition to Deepak Group’s comprehensive suite of community-focused healthcare initiatives. From the ‘Nidaan’ Van, which is dedicated to Tuberculosis detection, to the ‘Swasth Sakhi’ Van, providing essential gynaecological and paediatric care, and the NABL-Certified Diagnostic Lab, serving over 5,000 beneficiaries annually with high-quality diagnostics, each program underscores the organization’s resolve to improve access to healthcare and uplift lives across diverse communities.
