J P Nadda is new Chemical and Fertilizer Minister

He is also the Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India

BJP national President J P Nadda has been given the charge of India’s Ministries of Health, and Chemicals and Fertilizers.

Nadda entered politics in 1975.  During the Lok Sabha Polls in 1989, he was assigned a major responsibility as election in-charge of the BJP’s youth wing. Later, he fought Assembly elections from his home state Himachal Pradesh and won three times. He has been a Cabinet Minister in Himachal Pradesh. He also shouldered the responsibilities of BJP National General Secretary and Member Secretary of BJP Parliamentary Board. He held the position of Union Health Minister from Nov 2014 to May 2019.

Nadda was appointed the national working president of the BJP in June 2019. On 20 January 2020, he was elected unanimously as the BJP National President, a role he took from Amit Shah. In September 2022 he got extension to be the party chief till 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

On 4 March 2024, he resigned as member of Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh. He was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat and took oath on 6 April 2024.

After graduating from the Patna University, he completed his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the Himachal University.
