Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has received a patent for inventing "Method and Apparatus for Soft Start, Soft Stop, Protecton & Brown Out Operation of a Gridconnected Motor”.

The Patent Office, Government of India, has awarded Shakti Pumps this patent, fully adhering to the provisions set forth in the Patents Act of 1970. This patent is set to maintain its validity for duration of 20 years, commencing from the date of filing. This is the 14th Patent that the company has secured.

Dinesh Patidar, Chairman and Managing Director of Shakti Pumps, shared his excitement about this ground breaking achievement: "We are incredibly proud to receive our 14th patent, which marks a significant milestone in our on-going commitment to innovation and excellence. The soft start and stop features of Shakti Pumps' patented technology offer precise control over motor acceleration and deceleration, reducing mechanical stress and enhancing safety in applications like conveyor systems, pumps, HVAC systems, and precision machining. Additionally, by limiting inrush current during motor start, the technology mitigates voltage dips, reduces the need for oversized electrical infrastructure, and improves system efficiency, reliability, and longevity, while also being compatible with generator-fed AC motors, thereby affirming Shakti Pumps' commitment to innovation and sustainability in delivering superior solutions for global electrical system needs.

This patented technology offers several key benefits for both motor and grid electrical systems. By gradually ramping up the motor speed, the soft starter reduces mechanical stress on the motor and connected equipment, extending the motor's lifespan and reducing maintenance costs. It provides a smooth and controlled start, eliminating the sudden torque and mechanical shock associated with traditional starting methods, which is particularly beneficial for sensitive equipment.

It enhances the reliability of power electronic circuits by providing input boost, thereby eliminating the risk of surges caused by voltage swells. Additionally, in pump applications, it aids in preventing water hammer and mechanical shock in piping systems.
