Transition Industries has signed a definitive Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) agreement with Siemens Energy and Techint Engineering & Construction to develop a 210 MW electrolyzer facility at its Pacifico Mexinol project in Sinaloa, Mexico.
Thus, marking a major step forward for one of the world's most ambitious ultra-low-carbon methanol developments.
The agreement moves the project beyond front-end engineering and into the next phase of delivery, paving the way for construction of a facility that will produce renewable hydrogen for the production of ultra-low-carbon methanol. The deal remains subject to customary conditions precedent, including completion of project financing.
The electrolyzer plant will use Siemens Energy's Elyzer P-300 technology and supply renewable hydrogen for the production of renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) at Pacifico Mexinol's planned 6,130-metric-ton-per-day methanol complex.
The signing builds on the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) agreement announced in August 2025 and brings together Siemens Energy's electrolysis technology and Techint E&C's engineering and construction expertise.
“Moving from front-end engineering to a signed EPC agreement is a significant milestone for Pacifico Mexinol,” said Rommel Gallo, CEO of Transition Industries, the parent company of Pacifico Mexinol.
“This agreement brings together Siemens Energy’s electrolysis technology and Techint’s construction capabilities to deliver a critical component of our project and a landmark for renewable hydrogen in the Americas. It reflects our continued commitment to developing world-scale infrastructure that can meet growing demand for lower-carbon fuels and chemical products.”
Construction is expected to begin in early 2027, subject to the fulfilment of the agreement's conditions precedent.
For Siemens Energy, the project represents a significant milestone in its regional electrolyzer business. At approximately 210 MW, the installation would be the company's largest electrolyzer facility in the Americas.
“At approximately 210 MW, this hydrogen plant would be Siemens Energy’s largest electrolyzer installation in the Americas. The project has the potential to accelerate low-carbon fuel production in the region and advance the global decarbonization of hard-to-abate industries,” said Dan Restrepo, Head of Electrolyzer Sales Americas.
Techint E&C will work alongside Siemens Energy to execute the project, with a focus on safety, operational integrity and environmental and community responsibilities.
“We are pleased to continue supporting Pacifico Mexinol in the development of the Project through our alliance with Siemens Energy. We will execute this work with the highest standards of safety, integrity and transparency, and with respect for the communities and the environment where we operate, contributing to the development of sustainable energy in Mexico”, said Esteban Trouet, Operations Sr. Director for Techint Engineering & Construction- North Region.
