The board of directors of Chemplast Sanmar Limited, a major manufacturer of Speciality Chemicals such as Specialty Paste PVC resin and custom manufactured chemicals for agrochemical, pharmaceutical and fine chemicals sector, has appointed N. Sankar as Chairman Emeritus with immediate effect for life term on an honorary basis.

No remuneration in any form will be paid and he will not be a member of the Board of Directors of the company.

Sankar was on the Board of the company and its predecessor from 1975 to 2004 and was the chairman of the company from July 1998 to July 2004. Prior to that he was Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the company. From 2004 till August 2020 he was the Chairman of the Sanmar Group Corporate Board, an advisory board of the Sanmar Group.

Sankar has been instrumental for the success of the company over the last nearly five decades.

Chemplast Sanmar Limited also produces other chemicals such as caustic Soda, chlorochemicals, hydrogen peroxide, refrigerant gas and industrial salt. The manufacturing facilities are located at Mettur, Berigai and Vedaranyam in Tamil Nadu and Karaikal in Puducherry.
