ONGC appoints Alka Mittal as its first woman CMD

She will hold the position for six months or until a regular appointment for the post is announced, whichever is earlier.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has appointed Alka Mittal as its first woman Chairperson and Managing Director (CMD).

Mittal, who is Director of Human Resources at ONGC, has been given additional charge as the head of the organisation. She will hold the position for six months or until a regular appointment for the post is announced, whichever is earlier.

Mittal is currently the senior most on the board of directors at ONGC. A postgraduate in Economics, MBA (HRM) and Doctorate in Commerce and Business Studies, she had joined ONGC as a graduate trainee in 1985.
