Ethanol manufacturers to invest Rs. 3,000 crore in Bihar

Bihar produces 35,000 MT maize and has got a quota to manufacture 36 crore liters of ethanol from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs)

Ethanol manufacturers are planning to invest around Rs. 3,000 crore for setting up 17 manufacturing units in different districts of Bihar, says Sandeep Poundrik, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, Government of Bihar. 
 
Speaking exclusively to Indian Chemical News, Sandeep Poundrik at Bihar Investors' Meet 2022 said, "All 17 manufacturing units based in Bihar will manufacture ethanol through maize and will supply to oil marketing companies for blending into petrol and diesel." 
 
The 17 ethanol manufacturing units will be spread across different districts of Bihar - Muzaffarpur, Bhojpur, Nalanda, Purnea, Arrah, Buxar, Madhubani, Begusarai, Gopalganj, East Champaran, and Bhagalpur. 
 
"An ethanol plant of 500,000 litres per day manufacturing unit is coming up in Arrah which is ready for commercial production. Bharat Sugar Mills is planning an ethanol plant in Sidhwalia and Sona Sati Organics Pvt. Ltd. is planning 125 KLPD maize based ethanol plant. All these plants will soon launch their commercial operations soon," said Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Industries Minister, Government of Bihar.  
 
"Bihar produces 35,000 MT maize and has got a quota to manufacture 36 crore liters of ethanol from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs)," added Hussain.
