Responding to the Government of India’s Request for Selection (RfS) for green hydrogen and electrolyser for National Green Hydrogen Mission, 21 companies, including Reliance Industries, Adani Group, Jindal India, Larsen and Toubro, and Bharat Heavy Electricals, have submitted bids seeking incentives for the production of electrolysers, according to Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

Additionally, a total of 14 major companies, including Reliance Industries, JSW Energy, Torrent Power, and Bharat Petroleum Corp, have participated in the bidding for incentives under India's green hydrogen initiative.

The initiative is part of a US$ 2 billion program launched in July to stimulate green hydrogen production and electrolyser manufacturing.

Bids for producing 0.55 million metric tons of green hydrogen have surpassed the targeted 0.45 million tons. Key players in this segment include Acme Cleantech, Sembcorp Green Hydrogen, CESC, Greenko ZeroC, and Avaada GreenH2.

Bids for setting up 1.5 GW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity have exceeded expectations, reaching 3.4 GW. Notable participants in this aspect include Waaree Energies, Ohmium Operations, Advait Infratech, and Acme Cleantech Solutions.

The Govt had issued RfS for selection of green hydrogen producers for setting up production facilities of 450,000 tons for green hydrogen in India under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme (Mode-1-Tranche-I) on 10th July 2023. The last date for submission of bids is 12th December, 2023.
