BASF signs investment agreement with Nanjing Jiangbei New Area to establish new electronic materials production site
BASF has partnered with Nanjing Jiangbei New Area to build a new electronic materials production facility within the Materials High-Tech Park. This strategic investment strengthens BASF's capacity to support China's expanding semiconductor sector by providing localized manufacturing, advanced technical expertise, and a highly reliable supply chain.
“Through this investment, we are strengthening our local manufacturing footprint to better support our customers and contribute to the continued development of China’s semiconductor industry,” said Jens Liebermann, Senior Vice President and head of BASF’s Global Electronic Materials business.
“The investment marks another important milestone in BASF’s ‘local-for-local’ strategy. Building on BASF’s existing strong presence in Nanjing will further strengthen the company’s manufacturing, supply chain and technical support network and will enable us to better serve customers in the region,” added Gops Pillay, President, Global Operating Division of BASF.
Slated for a late 2028 launch, the facility will foster closer collaboration across the semiconductor value chain, using local expertise to speed up technological breakthroughs.
